Overhead sports and shoulder injuries in female athletes

A recent study looked at the risk factors for shoulder injury in female athletes. Specifically, the female athletes studied played overhead sports, such as swimming and basketball. The researchers found evidence suggesting that the dominant shoulder in the sport was at-risk for injury, as well as athletes with high overuse of the shoulder in their sport. The researchers encourage the use of prevention programs, which can reduce the risk of shoulder re-injury.
